The United States has more institutions of higher learning than any other country in the world. Importantly, the academic bodies provide absolute quality education. Quality of research is excellent and the facilities available to bring your research to the market are exceptional. The research at many of these universities is cutting-edge and often published in journals worldwide. USA has always been a hub of inventions and Universities play a significant role in the change process.
Diversity and Variety
The United States offers variety. There is a wide range of schools, countless areas of study and specialty degrees. If you are interested in studying business, you are not relegated to just general study, but can choose from many concentrations: accounting, marketing, international business, business management, business administration, or finance. (There are many more!) This type of specialty study is available at the undergraduate, graduate and doctorate level, too.
Good career prospects
On completion of your degree, you are legally authorized to work in the US in your related field for about a year. You need to apply for Optional Practical Training Employment Authorization (OPT). Most international students get inducted into the company that hires them during their OPT period, by sponsoring their H1-B or work visa. The H1-B work visa is usually granted by employers if they are hiring international students in specialty areas such as software, engineering, accountancy, teaching or marketing. Once your employer grants your H1-B, you are allowed to work in the US without returning to your home country.
Improve your English skills
Learning or improving your English skills are the main reasons why many students go abroad. Certainly, being surrounded by English and using it on a daily basis can be a great and easy way to improve your language skills. English is the language of business and if you want to be successful in your career, you need to speak it well!
Here's a general overview of the steps you might take:
Research Universities and Programs:
The USA is home to many universities offering a vast array of programs. Research universities that offer the programs you're interested in, considering factors like location, reputation, faculty, and campus culture.
Check Admission Requirements
Each university and program will have its own set of admission requirements. These typically include academic transcripts, standardized test scores (such as the SAT or ACT for undergraduate programs, or the GRE/GMAT for graduate programs), letters of recommendation, and a statement of purpose.
Take Standardized Tests
If required, register for and take any standardized tests necessary for admission to your chosen programs. Prepare thoroughly to perform well on these exams.
Apply for Admission
Once you've identified the universities and programs you're interested in, start the application process. This usually involves filling out an online application form and submitting all required documents before the application deadline.
Apply for Scholarships and Financial Aid
Investigate scholarship and financial aid options available to international students. Many universities offer merit-based scholarships, and there may also be external scholarships you can apply for.
Obtain a Student Visa
If you're accepted into a program, you'll need to apply for a student visa (typically an F-1 visa for academic studies). The process involves completing a visa application form, paying the application fee, scheduling and attending a visa interview at the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate, and providing required documents.
Arrange Accommodation
Research accommodation options near your university. Many universities offer on-campus housing, but there are also off-campus options like rental apartments or shared housing.
Plan Your Finances
Studying in the USA can be expensive, so it's important to plan your finances carefully. Consider tuition fees, accommodation costs, living expenses, health insurance, and other expenses you may incur during your time as a student.
Prepare for the Move
Once you've been accepted into a program and obtained your student visa, start preparing for your move to the USA. This includes arranging travel, obtaining any necessary vaccinations or health checks, and familiarizing yourself with American culture and customs
Settle In
Once you arrive in the USA, take some time to settle into your new environment. Attend orientation sessions offered by your university, get to know your fellow students, and explore your new city.
